James' first block

Here's the first block! It's a foundation pieced pineapple pattern. Now he just has to get onto the other 5! we are now fighting over who is using the sewing machine ;D

Finished pieces

These pieces are all framed up!! I did the top one myself. The three below I got framed. Really happy with the result.

Deeper Water

Here is the finished piece. Well almost. i couldn't decided what it needed. So finally I added the felted cord you see below. It hangs down like a tassel on each side and scallops across the front as you can sort of see from the picture.

Below is my almost finished "Morrocan Mystery II" I wasn't too sure about the pink, but I'm quite happy with it. Also helped finding a very transparent black organza to work with. I used a reverse applique technique with black chiffon - sew the cut a lot of it away. Then I sew on the black organza to cover the areas where I removed the more opaque chiffon. I have a big square frame ready for it!!

I bought this yesterday!!! The whole hank of recycled sari silk for $15!! Ohhhh yeah. Don't love all the colours, but I'm sure different bits will come in handy all over the place. I've almost used up a the other tibetan silk I bought (there wasn't this much, though).

Deeper Water and News!!

I have been making a piece inspired by water for an upcoming felt exhibition and here it is! not quite finished, titled 'Deeper Water.' It will be a wall hanging.

As of today I am also represented by a gallery!! Will be putting some work in in 2 weeks! It's really exciting. My husband has started piecing a miniature quilt using the fabrics below. Very nice!! Will keep you posted.

Tomorrow I am felting using the wool tops from the previous post. Today I dyed silk chiffon to match!! I am very proud of myself for testing out the colours on my sampler first. I'm also really pleased with the result.

Also had some great news today! I man saw my work on Flickr and wants to have some of my work in his gallery!! Very excited and stoked that he heard about it from someone else.

These last two I'm going to use as backgrounds - a starting point for ocean pieces.

March!!

Had a lovely day today. Been feeling abit under the weather, but made sure I took some photos of what I have happening. This piece needs some coral coloured paint on the canvas, I think. Maybe evento reference the red and pink more. I am about to start making a felt piece using the colours above!! EEEEEE!
